Mobile is unusual. A backend engineer's output is invisible; a mobile engineer's is in the App Store with a version history, a review page and a support address. You can use the thing they built before you speak to them.

Almost nobody hires this way. The standard process reads a CV that says Swift and Kotlin, runs a generic interview, and never opens the app the candidate spent three years on.

The other trap is platform politics. Insisting on native iOS when your product is React Native, or the reverse, cuts the pool in half for a distinction most candidates cross comfortably.

How the agent runs a mobile engineer search

01

It finds the shipped work

Store listings, repositories, release notes and the apps they are credited on. Then it says what that evidence actually shows.

02

It reads across platforms

Native and cross-platform candidates are both surfaced unless you rule one out, because most strong engineers have crossed the line more than once.

03

Outreach that mentions their app

Referencing something specific about what they shipped is the difference between a reply and silence, and it is what the agent writes from.

04

Screening on release reality

Your questions go out early: the worst release they shipped, how they found out, and what their crash rate looked like afterwards.

Questions.
Answered.

Only if you have a concrete reason. Most strong mobile engineers have shipped both, and platform purity narrows the pool much more than it raises quality.

Release cadence, how they responded to reviews, crash-related patch history and the repository behind it where one is public. It is imperfect but far better than a keyword list.

Yes. Say iOS, Android or both at intake and the agent weights the search, while still surfacing strong adjacent candidates and labelling them as such.

Common at startups and often desirable. Tell us and the agent reads for full-stack evidence too.
